SUFFERN: Body Found Floating in Quarry – Scene Secured, Investigation Ongoing [UPDATED 6:30 PM]

On Monday afternoon at approximately 1:45 PM, a body was discovered floating in the Suffern Quarry, triggering a swift response from multiple emergency agencies.

Suffern Police responded to the scene and were joined by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Suffern Fire Department, and the County Coroner’s Office. The body was successfully recovered with assistance from emergency personnel.

Mayor Michael Curley, who remained on location, confirmed that the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office has also offered its full support to the Village during the investigation.

As of 6:30 PM, Mayor Curley issued an update stating, “The scene has been secured and the investigation is ongoing. We appreciate the swift response of all the agencies involved and will continue to keep the public informed as more details become available.”

Chevra Kadisha services were not needed in this tragic incident.
