Stony Point Police have arrested 19-year-old Mahamadou Sissoko of the Bronx, NY, in connection with a high-speed chase and fiery crash that occurred on October 8, 2024, in Tomkins Cove. Sissoko, who fled the scene on foot, was apprehended on January 9, 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM in the Bronx.
According to police, Sissoko and two other individuals were involved in stealing mail from residential mailboxes in Tomkins Cove. The stolen mail contained personal checks and banking information. When police arrived, Sissoko, who was driving the vehicle, fled at a high speed, leading to a crash off the roadway where the vehicle was found engulfed in flames. While the other two suspects, an 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old juvenile, were apprehended at the scene, Sissoko managed to escape into a wooded area.
After an extensive investigation, police identified Sissoko as the driver and tracked him to the Bronx. He was taken into custody and brought to the Stony Point Police Station for processing. Sissoko faces several charges, including grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless driving. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in court on January 23, 2025, at 1:30 PM.
