Stony Point Police Release New Details on Wild Police Chase; Juvenile Driver Charged

The Stony Point Police Department has released additional details regarding the high-speed chase that occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, and concluded with arrests near Schassler Place in Stony Point. The pursuit, which spanned multiple jurisdictions, followed a reported road rage incident in Clarkstown and was first reported by Monsey Scoop yesterday.

According to the Stony Point Police, a 16-year-old male from Stony Point was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree, Reckless Driving, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations.

The chase began around 3:35 p.m. when officers received information about a suspect vehicle linked to a Stony Point address. A patrol officer spotted the vehicle exiting the Palisades Interstate Parkway at Exit 15. When the officer attempted a stop, the suspect reversed into an occupied school bus and fled, eventually reentering the PIP and crossing into the northbound lane. The suspect then exited onto Willow Grove Road and drove through multiple residential yards, causing property damage.

The vehicle eventually became disabled after getting stuck on large rocks. Both occupants—juveniles—were taken into custody without further incident. The driver was processed by Stony Point Police and later turned over to the Clarkstown Police Department, which is pursuing more serious charges.

No injuries were reported. The operation involved support from the New York State Police, New York State Park Police, Haverstraw Police, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
