The Stony Point Police Department has welcomed two new members to its ranks, adding an experienced police officer and a new recruit who will begin academy training this fall.
Police Officer Peter Costabile joins the department with prior law enforcement experience from the New York City Police Department and is expected to immediately begin serving the Stony Point community.
Police Officer Recruit Owen Smith is beginning his law enforcement career with Stony Point and is scheduled to attend the Rockland County Police Academy this fall.
Smith previously participated in the Fall 2016 session of the North Rockland Youth Police Academy, making his return to the department especially meaningful as he now begins a career of his own in law enforcement.
The Stony Point Police Department also thanked Town Supervisor Amy Stamm and the Stony Point Town Board for supporting the department and approving the additional staffing.
Officials wished both Costabile and Smith safe and successful careers serving the Stony Point community.
