The Stony Point Police Department held its long-awaited Awards Ceremony on Tuesday night during the Town Board Meeting, recognizing officers for their dedication and exceptional service to the community. It was the first ceremony in several years, making the evening especially meaningful for the department and the families in attendance.
Officers were honored for Excellent Police Duty, including Det. Kryger, P.O. Mallon, P.O. Jordan, P.O. Wellington, Sgt. Gaynor and Det. Monaghan. Life Saving Awards were presented to P.O. Ferrara, P.O. D’Alisera and P.O. Barry. P.O. Barry also received the Chief Stephen Scurti Award, while Det. Kryger earned a Citation for Community Service. Unit Citations were awarded to the Detective Bureau and the Auxiliary Unit.
The ceremony also included special recognition for retiring Town Supervisor Jim Monaghan, honoring his years of service to Stony Point, as well as (Ret.) Chief Stephen G. Scurti, the longtime EOC Coordinator, for his ongoing commitment to public safety.
Families joined the celebration in support of their loved ones, and the PBA hosted food and refreshments following the event. Residents are encouraged to congratulate the award recipients for their professionalism, dedication and service to the people of Stony Point.
