On Saturday night, August 30, 2025, the Stony Point Police Department arrested 33-year-old Cristian Guaman-Auquin of Tomkins Cove on charges of Driving While Intoxicated and multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
At approximately 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of two males sleeping inside a vehicle stopped on the roadside in Tomkins Cove. Police located the vehicle, which was running with the keys still in the ignition. Both men were awakened and removed from the vehicle. Officers determined that Guaman-Auquin, seated in the driver’s seat, showed signs of intoxication, including red and glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. An open container of alcohol was also found inside the vehicle.
Field Sobriety Tests were administered at the scene, which Guaman-Auquin failed. He was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. A breath analysis test indicated a blood alcohol content above the .08% legal limit in New York State.
Guaman-Auquin was released with several uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in court on September 18, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
The arrest took place during enhanced holiday weekend patrols conducted by the Stony Point Police Department as part of the Rockland County Stop DWI Initiative.
