Stony Point Police Arrest Suspect in Counterfeit Currency Case

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a 2022 counterfeit currency scheme at a local Walgreens, authorities announced.

On March 4, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the Stony Point Police Department apprehended the individual on an active arrest warrant. The charges include Possession of a Forged Instrument in the First Degree, Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree.

The arrest stems from an ongoing investigation into an incident on August 10, 2022, when counterfeit U.S. currency was allegedly used to purchase $1,440 worth of gift cards at a Walgreens in Stony Point. Following an extensive inquiry, detectives identified the suspect as one of four individuals involved in the scheme and subsequently secured an arrest warrant.

The defendant was processed, arraigned, and released with an appearance ticket. The case is scheduled for a court hearing at the Stony Point Justice Court on March 18, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.

Authorities have not released further details about the other suspects involved. The investigation remainsongoing.
