The Stony Point Police Department has arrested 34-year-old Watson Germosen of Stony Point in connection with an attempted arson that occurred in July on the James A. Farley Bridge, also known as the 9W Bridge.
On July 20, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a male attempting to ignite a fire using an unknown accelerant on the bridge. Upon arrival, police observed a large black charred area on the concrete surface and detected a strong odor of gasoline. Officers canvassed the area for the suspect, witnesses, and any additional damage that may have occurred.
The Stony Point Police Detective Division launched an investigation, which ultimately identified Germosen as the individual responsible for lighting the fire and causing the damage. On October 7, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., detectives — assisted by patrol officers — located the suspect at his residence and placed him under arrest without incident.
Germosen was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd and 4th Degrees and Arson in the 5th Degree. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Stony Point Justice Court on October 16, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
