Stony Point Police Arrest Haverstraw Man in Overnight Vehicle Larceny Spree

The Stony Point Police Department has arrested a 37-year-old Haverstraw man in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred early Tuesday morning across a neighborhood off South Liberty Drive.

According to police, the first call came in around 6:15 AM on November 25, 2025, reporting items stolen from a vehicle. Over the next several hours, a total of eight residents reported similar thefts. Investigators reviewed multiple security videos showing a suspect entering vehicles and removing property. With assistance from Haverstraw Police—who had recently arrested the same individual in a similar case—detectives were able to identify the suspect as Wellington Remigio.

As the investigation progressed, officers learned that Remigio was inside a business on South Liberty Drive. He was located, detained, and found to be in possession of items stolen earlier that morning. Police say numerous additional stolen items were recovered from a garbage can outside the Stony Point Budget Motor Inn, where Remigio had rented a room on November 24 before leaving the following day. A search of the suspect also yielded crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Remigio faces multiple charges, including Grand Larceny (3rd and 4th degree), Criminal Possession of Stolen Property (4th and 5th degree), Petit Larceny, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, and several counts related to drug paraphernalia.

He was processed, arraigned in Stony Point Justice Court, and remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $5,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to court on December 1, 2025. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
