STONY POINT: Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Struck by Freight Train in Tompkins Cove

On Sunday evening, at approximately 5:40 p.m., New York State Police troopers from the Haverstraw barracks responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a train in the area of Tompkins Cove, within the Town of Stony Point.

According to investigators, a 21-year-old man was on the railroad tracks when a CSX freight train passed through and struck him. The train came to a stop, and emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to render aid.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by medevac to Westchester Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

The incident remains under active investigation by the New York State Police.
