Stony Point Man Arrested on Multiple Charges Following Domestic Incident

On August 25, 2025, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Stony Point Police arrested 23-year-old Yaguache Illapa of Haverstraw, NY, in connection with a domestic incident that occurred the previous day.

Police report that on August 24, at around 5:45 p.m., Nyack Hospital staff notified authorities that a victim from a past domestic dispute was being treated in the Emergency Room. Officers responded and interviewed a female victim, who stated that earlier that morning, at approximately 2:00 a.m., she was assaulted by Illapa inside a vehicle on a residential street in Stony Point.

According to the victim, Illapa struck her multiple times in the face, causing swelling and bleeding, and allegedly placed his hands around her neck, obstructing her breathing. The victim further reported that Illapa restrained her in the vehicle, refusing to let her exit, before driving her to a location in the Village of Haverstraw. After briefly entering an apartment with the victim, she managed to flee the scene using Illapa’s vehicle and later sought treatment at Nyack Hospital for her injuries.

During the investigation, police determined there was already an active Order of Protection against Illapa issued by Ramapo Justice Court.

Illapa voluntarily surrendered to Stony Point Police the following morning. He was charged with Aggravated Criminal Contempt, Assault in the Third Degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, and Harassment in the Second Degree.

He was processed at police headquarters and arraigned in Stony Point Justice Court, where he was released on $2,000 cash bail. Illapa is scheduled to return to court on September 4, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. A new Stay-Away Order of Protection was issued.
