The Stony Point community is mourning the passing of former Town Supervisor and longtime chaplain of the Stony Point Fire Department, Deacon Phil Marino, who dedicated decades of service to the town and its residents.
According to officials from the Stony Point Fire Department (Wayne Hose Company No. 1), Marino served as Chaplain since May 1, 1995, offering guidance, support, and comfort to generations of firefighters and their families. He also served as Stony Point Town Supervisor from 2006 to 2008, further cementing his legacy of public service.
In January 2020, Marino was granted Life Membership status in Wayne Hose Company, becoming the first non-firematic member in the company’s history to receive such an honor. Fire officials noted that he deeply valued his role, consistently expressing gratitude for the privilege of serving as chaplain and standing by members in times of need.
“Wayne Hose Company 1 has lost a brother, a friend, and a longtime member of our family,” the department said in a statement, asking the community to keep the Marino family in their thoughts and prayers.
Funeral services for Deacon Phil Marino were held on Saturday.

May he rest in peace.
