History was made Sunday night at the Spring Valley Marketplace with the lighting of what is now the tallest menorah in the world, standing over 33 feet tall. The massive menorah was built by Stellar Productions and lit during a Grand Unity Menorah Lighting held in honor of the Sydney Kedoshim.
The menorah was lit by internationally known Jewish singer Lipa Schmeltzer, who ascended high above the crowd on a Spring Valley Fire Department ladder truck. Following the lighting, Schmeltzer energized the audience with uplifting Chanukah songs and music.
The event was organized by Merkaz Ufaratzta Lubavitch under the leadership of Rabbi Dovid Weber, in collaboration with the National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE) of Rockland.
The new menorah officially surpasses the iconic menorah at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, which stands 32 feet tall and has long been recognized as a global Chanukah landmark. With its greater height, the Spring Valley menorah now takes the distinction as the tallest menorah in the world.
Security for the event was extensive, with Spring Valley Police providing a strong presence throughout the evening, assisted by Chaverim of Rockland volunteers to ensure the safety of the large crowd.
The event drew significant attendance and marked a powerful moment of Jewish pride, unity, and resilience, as the community gathered to spread light and hope during Chanukah at the Spring Valley Marketplace.
