Spring Valley Village Treasurer Resigns Amid Controversy

Spring Valley Village Treasurer Gregg Smith resigned Monday morning, five days after Mayor Alan Simon attempted to fire him, as reported then by Monsey Scoop. The mayor’s actions reportedly caused two office employees to suffer anxiety attacks.

Smith, who has over 30 years of experience in finance, stated that members of the Board of Trustees informed him that the mayor did not have the authority to terminate his employment. Despite this, Smith submitted his resignation letter to the village on Monday morning.
