Spring Valley Village Board Holds First Fire Commissioners Meeting in Years, Maps Out Fire Service Enhancements

On Monday, the Village of Spring Valley Village Board, which serves as the Fire Commissioners, held its first Fire Commissioners meeting in many years as it launched a comprehensive effort to evaluate and enhance fire services throughout the village.

During the meeting, officials outlined a structured, step by step plan to guide the enhancement process. The first phase will include meetings with fire chiefs to review response times and discuss strategies to increase membership. The second phase will involve in person meetings with the fire chiefs at all three Spring Valley firehouses located on West Street, North Main Street, and West Furman Place to better understand operational needs and challenges.

As part of the third step, the board plans to visit the Rockland County 44 Control communications headquarters to gain a clearer understanding of the county dispatch system. The fourth step will include a visit to Monsey Fire Communications to explore how the Spring Valley Fire Department may benefit from Monsey’s existing communications infrastructure.

Village officials said they are also exploring additional options to further enhance fire services and expect to review and consider new proposals for approval at the next Fire Commissioners meeting.

  1. hopefully the village board will see and understand that the fire department is missing multiple equipment and has some that needs to get updated
and i hope they take in mind fast response vehicles like MFD has it defiantly makes response faster and allows a more sufficient way of obtaining first hand info for the fire chief
Thanks board members for what you have done until now
(i dont know if the board knows but decatur and herrick ave bothe get response from SVFD and do not pay taxes for that )

  2. How about this one the Village and the Fire district of Spring valley or East Spring valley or whatever they call all that different districts collects over $4 million a year in tax money and doesn’t even spend half of that the rest of it goes into the general budget. Prove me wrong if you think you can.
