The Village of Spring Valley has put a newly acquired 4-ton hot box trailer into active use, allowing the Department of Public Works to perform proper blacktop and pothole repairs throughout the year — even during the winter months.
DPW Director Ray Canario told Monsey Scoop that he’s very pleased with the new addition, which is already in operation. “This will ensure better service and benefit the residents of Spring Valley,” he said. “It allows us to properly patch potholes instead of relying on temporary fixes.”
At tonight’s Village Board meeting, officials are expected to vote on joining the I-Works program — a digital platform designed to streamline all DPW-related issues, including potholes, streetlight outages, and sanitation concerns. If approved, residents will be able to submit service requests with a photo, and once the issue is addressed, they’ll receive a follow-up image showing the completed work.
“It’s a very easy process that will help us serve the community more efficiently and communicate directly with residents,” Canario added. While potholes are a prime example of the new system’s benefits, the I-Works program would enhance the entire DPW operation.
