Spring Valley Teen Arrested for Arson Following Memorial Park Drive Fire

An 18-year-old Spring Valley resident has been arrested in connection with a fire at a new construction site on Memorial Park Drive, marking his second arson-related arrest in less than a month.

On Thursday, February 13, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Spring Valley Police Department responded to 22 Memorial Park Drive following reports of a fire as Monsey Scoop reported. Upon arrival, officers discovered an active structure fire with heavy smoke conditions. The Spring Valley Fire Department promptly responded and extinguished the blaze. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

After a comprehensive investigation, authorities arrested Carlos De Leon-Cordero, 18, on February 17 for setting the fire. He has been charged with Arson in the fourth degree and was arraigned before Judge Sweet, who released him on his own recognizance.

Police confirmed that De Leon-Cordero had been arrested less than a month earlier for setting fire to an abandoned building at 103 North Madison Avenue, just blocks away from the Memorial Park Drive incident.

Despite the arrest, the Spring Valley Police Department continues to investigate and urges anyone with information regarding these fires to contact them at 845-356-7400.
