Early Thursday morning at approximately 1:40 AM, a Spring Valley Police officer observed a suspect removing mail from a USPS collection box outside the post office on North Madison Avenue.
Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the moment the suspect noticed the officer, he jumped into a waiting vehicle and sped off. Spring Valley Police initiated a brief pursuit but lost visual contact and alerted Clarkstown Police for assistance. Clarkstown PD later located the suspect’s vehicle, but it again fled, this time entering the Palisades Parkway before officers lost track of it.
Spring Valley Police and U.S. Postal Police are actively investigating the incident.
