In a heartfelt ceremony held on Monday evening, part of West Street was renamed in memory of the heroic Spring Valley firefighter, Jared Lloyd. Located outside his former firehouse, the newly christened “Jared Lloyd Way” stands as a testament to his bravery and dedication to the community he served.
Lloyd, 35, tragically lost his life in March 2021 after valiantly ensuring the evacuation of over one hundred residents from the Evergreen Court Home for Adults, which was engulfed in a massive fire. Alongside him, a resident of the facility also succumbed to the blaze that fateful evening.
Amid the gathering of friends, family, and fellow first responders, many shared poignant memories and recounted Lloyd’s unwavering commitment to his duty. The renaming ceremony not only serves as a permanent reminder of his heroism but also highlights the sacrifices made by first responders daily.
The community hopes that “Jared Lloyd Way” will inspire future generations and stand as a symbol of the indomitable spirit of those who put their lives on the line for others.
