The Village of Spring Valley is considering implementing a new traffic management plan for Purim, similar to the successful model used in the Town of Ramapo. Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach and the entire village board is seeking public feedback on which streets should be designated as one-way, temporarily blocked off, or otherwise modified to improve traffic flow and prevent gridlock during the holiday.
“In Ramapo, they control traffic by making certain streets one-way or blocking them off, and it has been very helpful. Otherwise, the roads would be completely gridlocked,” Eisenbach explained. “I want to implement the same system in Spring Valley, and I’d like to hear from the public about which streets they think should be adjusted.”
Residents are encouraged to share their suggestions by emailing purim25@villagespringvalley.org. All feedback will be reviewed by the Village Board and shared with the police department to determine the best approach.
Eisenbach also acknowledged the efforts of the Town of Ramapo administration, staff, Ramapo Office of Emergency Preparedness, and Chaverim of Rockland coordinator Joseph Margaretten, who have successfully managed Purim traffic in prior years. “They’ve done a great job, and we hope to replicate their success here in Spring Valley,” he said.
As this is the first year Spring Valley will be implementing such a plan, Eisenbach emphasized that while it may not be perfect right away, it will definitely be a significant improvement over previous years. “We’re going to try our best, and while we can’t promise it will be 100% perfect, we’re confident this will make a big difference. We’ll learn from this year’s experience and work on improving it in the years to come.”
Residents are encouraged to submit their suggestions as soon as possible to help shape the final plan.
