Spring Valley Resident Faces Felony Charges for DWI with Minors in Vehicle

Early on the morning of Saturday, February 10, a Spring Valley man was apprehended and charged with a felony for driving while intoxicated (DWI) on the NYS Thruway in Ardsley, according to State Police. The individual, identified as Franklin Agualsaca Caiza, 28, was pulled over for multiple vehicle and traffic infractions. Upon evaluation, authorities determined Caiza was under the influence of alcohol while operating the vehicle.

Adding to the severity of the incident, Caiza had two young children in the car at the time of the stop — ages one and four. The children were subsequently placed in the care of a family relative following the incident.

Further investigations revealed that Caiza’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.10 percent, surpassing the legal limit. The presence of minors in the vehicle at the time of the offense has escalated the DWI charge to a felony level. The State Police are continuing their investigation into the matter and have not released further details at this time.
