The Spring Valley Police Department has arrested two suspects following an early-morning robbery that left a victim with facial injuries.
According to police, officers responded on March 2, 2026, at approximately 3:46 a.m. to the area of 1 Union Road for a reported robbery. During the investigation, officers learned that the victim had been walking near North Madison Avenue and Maple Avenue when he was approached by two unidentified individuals who demanded money.
When the victim refused, one of the suspects allegedly assaulted him and held him down while the second suspect removed the victim’s wallet. The victim sustained facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The case was assigned to the department’s Detective Bureau, which led to the identification and arrest of two suspects.
Jose Sarceno-Medrano, 18, of Ramapo, was arrested on March 4 and charged with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree (Class C Felonies) and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony). He was arraigned in the Village of Spring Valley Justice Court before Judge Mellion, where bail was set at $7,500 cash, $15,000 bond, or $25,000 partially secured bond. He was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
Josset Barrera-Cazco, 26, also of Ramapo, was arrested on March 5 and charged with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree (Class C Felonies), Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony), and Assault in the Third Degree (Class A misdemeanor). He was arraigned before Judge Sweet, who set bail at $7,500 cash, $15,000 bond, or $50,000 partially secured bond. He was also remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
