Spring Valley Police Arrest Two Following Month-Long Illegal Gambling Investigation

Two men were arrested following a month-long investigation into illegal gambling operations at two locations in Spring Valley, police announced.

According to the Spring Valley Police Department, officers executed multiple search warrants at 44 North Main Street and 26 North Main Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on August 12.

Police arrested Cesar Hernandez-Amparo, 46, of Hillcrest, and Jose Chavez-Torres, 50, of Spring Valley. Both were charged with Promoting Gambling in the First Degree, an E felony; Possession of Gambling Records in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor; and Possession of a Gambling Device, a misdemeanor.

Both men were released on appearance tickets pending further court proceedings.

The New York State Police and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigations assisted Spring Valley Police with the investigation.
