On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the Spring Valley Police Department conducted a proactive vehicle larceny operation in response to a recent surge in break-ins targeting village residents.
During surveillance of Rose Avenue, Ewing Avenue, Prospect Street, and the Bethune Boulevard corridor, officers spotted a man matching the description of a suspect connected to previous larceny investigations. The individual was observed on Rose Avenue using a cell phone flashlight to peer into parked vehicles at 131 Bethune Boulevard.
When officers approached the man for questioning, he fled on foot. After a short pursuit, police apprehended him in the area of Slinn Avenue.
A subsequent canvass of the area led officers to a vehicle at 90 Ewing Avenue with a shattered driver’s side window. Investigators determined that the suspect had broken into the vehicle and stolen property. Another nearby vehicle was also found to have been entered and rummaged through, though no items were reported missing.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Spring Valley resident Daeshawn Wesley Outerbridge, was arrested and charged with Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (E-Felony), Petit Larceny (A-Misdemeanor), Attempted Petit Larceny (A-Misdemeanor), and Obstructing Governmental Administration (A-Misdemeanor).
Outerbridge was arraigned before Judge Sweet at the Spring Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
