A tragic double homicide unfolded in Spring Valley on Saturday night as Monsey Scoop reported, leading to the swift arrest of a suspect less than 24 hours later, according to a press release from the Spring Valley Police Department.
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, officers responded to a welfare check at 4 Gesner Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered two female victims inside the apartment, both suffering from severe head injuries. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
By Sunday evening, authorities arrested 19-year-old Alan Aba, also known as Alena Aba, of Westwood, New Jersey. He was charged and arraigned on one count of first-degree murder (Penal Law 125.27) before Judge Sweet and remanded to Rockland County Jail.
Investigators determined that the incident was isolated, involving individuals known to each other, and assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. Police also clarified that, contrary to initial reports, no firearms were involved in the crime.
The Spring Valley Police Department extended its gratitude to multiple agencies for their assistance, including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, Rockland County Computer Crimes, Rockland County B.C.I., the Suffern Police Department, the Haverstraw Police Department, the New York State Police, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Spring Hill Ambulance Corps, and Rockland Paramedics.
