Spring Valley Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that took place inside an abandoned commercial property on Centre Street, as Monsey Scoop reported
On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at approximately 10:00 AM, a Spring Valley Police officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a pedestrian reporting the discovery of a body inside an abandoned building at 10 Centre Street. Upon arrival, officers found an unresponsive adult male who was pronounced dead at the scene.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities determined that the victim had been murdered. Later that evening, police arrested 26-year-old Christian Guzman-Loera of Spring Valley, charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Penal Law 125.25).
Guzman-Loera was arraigned the following morning in Spring Valley Justice Court before Judge Mellion and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
According to the felony complaint filed by Detective Yovany Rodriguez of the Spring Valley Police Department, the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a piece of lumber and left him exposed to freezing temperatures, leading to his death. The charges indicate that Guzman-Loera acted with depraved indifference to human life.
The Spring Valley Police Department extended their gratitude to assisting agencies, including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office, Rockland County District Attorney’s Office, Spring Hill Ambulance Corps, and the Rockland Paramedics for their support in the investigation.
Spring Valley Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach told Monsey Scoop that he is proud of the men and women of the Spring Valley Police Department, especially the Detective Squad, stating that they are second to none. He praised their swift action in solving this case, as well as a recent shooting within hours, making arrests quickly and effectively
