Spring Valley Police Arrest Man Charged with Trespassing at Sharon Drive Residence

The Spring Valley Police Department has announced the arrest of a local man following a trespassing incident that occurred on Sharon Drive late last month.

On Sunday, August 24, 2025, at approximately 12:00 a.m., police responded to a complaint after a homeowner reported that an unknown male had unlawfully entered his residence while he was away. At the time of the incident, the homeowner’s wife was outside with one of their children, while two other children were asleep upstairs.

Video evidence later provided to police showed the suspect wandering inside the home. When the homeowner returned, he encountered the man outside the residence. The suspect allegedly asked the homeowner if he lived there and made remarks suggesting that he change his locks and attend to toys left on the basement floor before leaving the area.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested 22-year-old Adrien J. Douglas of Spring Valley on August 29, 2025. He was charged with Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree and arraigned before Judge Sweet in Spring Valley Justice Court. Douglas was released on his own recognizance and later transported to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

Police emphasize that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Spring Valley Police Department is urging anyone with additional information about this incident to call 845-356-7400 or email tips@villagespringvalley.org.
