Spring Valley Police Arrest Gunman in Shooting That Sent Bullets Into Apartments

The Spring Valley Police Department has announced the arrest of 20-year-old Anderson J. Alvarado-Jimenez, a resident of Spring Valley, in connection with a disturbing shooting incident that took place on Saturday night, July 19, 2025, at 60 E. Eckerson Road, as first reported by Monsey Scoop.

According to police, Alvarado-Jimenez initially fired a .22 caliber revolver multiple times, striking a parked vehicle. He then left the scene and returned shortly afterward with an assault rifle, opening fire on the same vehicle approximately twenty more times, causing extensive damage.

Tragically, two bullets entered nearby apartments where children were playing, but miraculously, no one was injured in the gunfire.

An investigation led to the recovery of the firearms used in the shooting by the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team (URT) in the Town of Haverstraw.

Alvarado-Jimenez was arrested on July 22, 2025, and faces multiple charges, including:

  • Criminal Use of a Firearm 2nd Degree (PL 265.08)

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree (PL 265.03)

  • Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree (PL 120.25)

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (PL 265.02)

  • Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree (PL 145.05)

  • Tampering with Physical Evidence (PL 215.40)

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree (PL 265.01)

The suspect is currently being held pending arraignment.
