An 18-year-old Ramapo man has been arrested after slashing another man with a broken glass bottle during an early morning assault in Spring Valley, police announced.
According to the Spring Valley Police Department, officers responded at approximately 4:59 a.m. on July 9 to 29 South Main Street for a report of a bleeding victim. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from a severe laceration to his right arm and significant blood loss. Officers immediately applied a tourniquet to control the bleeding until EMS arrived. The victim was transported to Nyack Hospital for treatment.
Detectives launched an investigation and determined that the victim had been assaulted by an unknown male who allegedly used a broken glass bottle to slash his arm. Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Bartolome Garcia-Perez, 18, of Ramapo.
Garcia-Perez was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and False Personation. He was arraigned before Village of Spring Valley Justice Court Judge Sweet, who set bail at $5,000 cash, a $15,000 bail bond, or a $25,000 partially secured bond. Garcia-Perez was remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.
