Spring Valley Man Arrested in NJ With 50 Bags of Heroin After Citizen Tip in Glen Rock

A Spring Valley man was arrested in Glen Rock late Friday night after a concerned citizen reported an erratic driver in the area of Lincoln Avenue and Wellesley Road, according to Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann.

At approximately 10:48 p.m. on June 6, Officer Nick Onove located the vehicle parked on Wellesley Road and found the driver slumped over the steering wheel, appearing to be asleep. The man, identified as 31-year-old Luis R. Cruz Valenzuela, was found in possession of five bundles — totaling 50 wax baggies — of heroin, authorities said.

Cruz Valenzuela was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. He was also issued a summons for possessing CDS in a motor vehicle.

He was processed at Glen Rock Police Headquarters and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Central Judicial Processing Court at the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
