Spring Valley Man Arrested After Woman Stabbed In Eye On Sneden Place West

A Spring Valley man has been arrested following a stabbing that left a woman seriously injured Wednesday morning.

According to the Spring Valley Police Department, officers responded at approximately 10:30 a.m. on May 28 to the area of 53 Sneden Place West following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering from a stab wound to her right eye that required immediate medical attention.

Spring Hill EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

Police quickly broadcast a description of the suspect, and shortly thereafter an alert patrol officer located a man matching the description and safely took him into custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Oniel James of Spring Valley, was charged with Assault with Intent to Cause Serious Injury (Weapon), a B-1 Felony; Assault in the Second Degree, a D-2 Felony; and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, an A Misdemeanor.

James was arraigned before Judge Tenemil and remanded to the Rockland County Jail pending further court proceedings.
