On Friday, the Spring Valley Police Department celebrated the retirement of Detective Philip Fantasia, who dedicated 22 years to law enforcement, including 16 years with the Village of Spring Valley Police Department and time as a Group Supervisor with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force.
Detective Fantasia’s career in law enforcement began in August 2002 at the Rockland County Police & Public Safety Academy, where he trained through the Village of Tuxedo Police Department. Graduating as Vice President of his class in December 2002, he went on to work part-time with both the Village of Tuxedo Police and the Village of Chester Police Department. In 2005, he transitioned to a full-time position with the Town of Wallkill Police Department.
Balancing his part-time police duties, Fantasia also served as a Police Radio Dispatcher for the Haverstraw Police Department. He joined the Village of Spring Valley Police Department as a full-time officer in June 2008. In 2013, he was assigned to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force as an Investigator, later becoming a Group Supervisor. He was promoted to the rank of Detective in 2015 and continued his supervisory role with the Drug Task Force.
In 2020, Detective Fantasia returned to Spring Valley, where he worked in the Detective Bureau until his retirement on November 1, 2024.
At his retirement ceremony, Rockland County District Attorney Tom Walsh and Chief Assistant District Attorney Patrick Frawley honored Detective Fantasia with a plaque recognizing his service with the RCDAO Drug Task Force and Spring Valley Police Department, as well as his unwavering commitment to the safety of Spring Valley and Rockland County residents.
The department and community extend their gratitude and best wishes to Detective Fantasia as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement.
