After seeking public input on potential traffic adjustments for Purim, the Village of Spring Valley has decided not to implement any changes this year based on overwhelming community response.
A recent call for feedback invited residents to share their thoughts on designating certain streets as one-way or temporarily closing them to alleviate congestion, similar to measures taken in Ramapo. However, approximately 75-80% of responses indicated opposition to any modifications, with many residents expressing concerns that such changes could create more confusion rather than improve traffic flow.
“In light of the feedback we received, we have decided not to make any traffic adjustments for Purim this year,” said Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach. “Since we asked the public for their input, and the majority expressed that they prefer no changes, we are respecting that decision.”
The Village Board encourages residents to continue providing feedback regarding future Purim traffic management. If the community feels there is a need for adjustments next year, they are invited to email purim25@villagespringvalley.org with their suggestions based on this year’s experience.
“We will monitor how things play out this year and remain open to revisiting the discussion in the future if the public feels a change is necessary,” Eisenbach added.
