Spring Valley Police, working in coordination with the Suffern Police Department, announced arrests in connection with a grand larceny investigation involving items stolen from a vehicle and the attempted use of a stolen credit card.
Police say the incident occurred on December 1, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the Suffern Police Department. Among the items reported stolen was a credit card that was later allegedly attempted to be used in the Village of Spring Valley.
Through a joint investigation, Spring Valley Police identified two suspects—33-year-old Virgilio Alarcon-Tobar and 18-year-old Jose Villacinda-Najera—who were found to be in possession of the stolen credit card.
On December 10, 2025, Alarcon-Tobar was located and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a Class E felony, and Attempted Petit Larceny, a Class A misdemeanor. He was released on a desk appearance ticket pending a future court date.
On December 13, 2025, Villacinda-Najera was located and charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fourth Degree, a Class E felony. He was also released on a desk appearance ticket pending a future court date.
Spring Valley Police thanked the Suffern Police Department for their cooperation and assistance in the investigation.
Police remind the public that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
