Last week, Spring Hill EMS’s Youth Corps took part in an intensive, hands-on training exercise focused on firefighter rescue operations during “firefighter down” scenarios. Participants were challenged with realistic situations that required them to locate, assess, treat, and safely extricate downed firefighters from simulated emergency scenes.
Following the rescue phase, patients were transported to a mock hospital setting, where participants practiced delivering clear, concise patient reports to medical staff—adding a critical layer of real-world communication and continuity of care to the exercise.
The training was coordinated by Spring Hill EMS’s Youth Corps advisors Yakov Brull and Faigy Glatzer, and developed and led by Spring Hill EMS’s Medical Director Dr. Mao, whose expertise helped make the program both educational and impactful.
The exercise also brought together multiple agencies and Youth Corps teams, including Spring Valley Fire Department, Faist EMS, and Tuxedo EMS, reinforcing the importance of teamwork and inter-agency coordination.
Organizers thanked all those who participated and supported the training, noting that the dedication and professionalism displayed reflect the strength and future of the local emergency services community.
