Spring Hill EMS, Suffern Police, Rockland Sheriff’s Communications, and Tuxedo EMS Hold Joint Rescue Task Force Training

A joint Rescue Task Force training was held today, focusing on improving coordination between emergency medical services and law enforcement during active shooter scenarios. The exercise emphasized safe access to and treatment of patients in high-risk environments, ensuring first responders are fully prepared to act swiftly and cohesively in real-world emergencies.

Spring Hill Youth Corps members were temporarily granted Senior Corps status for the day, allowing them to train alongside experienced members and refine their patient-care and radio-communication skills under realistic conditions.

The event was made possible through the collaboration of multiple agencies, including Spring Hill EMS, Suffern Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Communications Division, and Tuxedo EMS. Spring Hill Youth Corps advisors also played a key role in supporting the participants.

Special thanks were extended to Medical Directors Dr. Dennis Mao and Dr. Robin Kim, as well as Suffern Police Lt. Brull for organizing the training. Appreciation was also expressed to Thomas Koziak, Strategic Safety and Security Coordinator for Rockland County, for leading the session, and to the administration of RP Connor Elementary School in Suffern for hosting the event.

This hands-on training marks another important step in strengthening the region’s emergency response capabilities and fostering collaboration among Rockland’s first responder community.
