A pedestrian who was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle on Van Orden Avenue near Dutch Lane in Spring Valley early Wednesday morning last week is making a remarkable recovery, according to Spring Hill EMS. The incident, previously reported by Monsey Scoop, prompted a rapid response from Spring Hill EMS paramedics and EMTs, who arrived to find the victim in unstable critical condition.
Emergency crews immediately began advanced life-saving interventions at the scene and while en route to Westchester Medical Center. Paramedics secured and maintained the patient’s airway, performed a needle decompression to treat a collapsed lung, controlled active bleeding, and provided aggressive treatment for multiple traumatic injuries.
Less than a week after the crash, Spring Hill EMS received encouraging news that the patient had been successfully stabilized and is making significant progress. The patient has been extubated, is awake, and is now able to speak with family and medical staff.
Spring Hill EMS credited the outstanding work of its paramedics and EMTs, whose rapid response, teamwork, and professionalism under intense pressure played a critical role in saving the patient’s life.
