Spring Hill Ambulance, Faist EMS, and Rockland County Sheriff’s Office Hold Joint Evacuation Drill at Friedwald Nursing Home

Spring Hill Ambulance, W.P. Faist Ambulance, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Communications Center conducted a large-scale training exercise on Wednesday night at Friedwald Nursing Home, simulating a structure fire that required the full evacuation of residents.

During the drill, volunteers posed as patients while first responders practiced triage, lifting and moving techniques, and coordinating radio communications. Line officers oversaw the deployment of resources and focused on ensuring the safe evacuation of all “patients” from the facility, replicating what would be needed in a real emergency.

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Communications Center served as the field command unit, coordinating operations and ensuring that participating agencies worked seamlessly together.

Organizers thanked Friedwald Nursing Home for hosting the exercise, the volunteers who acted as patients, and all agencies involved. Officials emphasized that joint training of this kind strengthens preparedness for large-scale incidents and ensures responders are ready to protect the community.
