Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, sent a letter to the Skverer Rebbe, in honor of his great-grandchild’s wedding. The letter was personally delivered by Congressman Mike Lawler during the wedding on Monday evening.
In the letter, Speaker Johnson extended his warm wishes to the Rebbe, writing, “Mazal Tov on the joyous celebration of yet another grandchild’s wedding! This is a blessed moment in the history of your family, and I rejoice with you as you celebrate this sacred union.”
Quoting the Torah’s commandment to “Be fruitful and multiply,” Johnson acknowledged the deep spiritual significance of the occasion, adding, “The marriage of two souls represents a beautiful mitzvah, and it evokes the words of Psalms: ‘The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.’”
Although unable to attend the wedding himself, Speaker Johnson expressed his appreciation for the invitation and shared his hope to visit the community in the near future, stating, “I hope to join you at your magnificent new synagogue soon.”
Congressman Lawler, who represents the district that includes New Square, personally handed the letter to the Rebbe, marking a moment of recognition from national leadership for the Skverer community’s enduring traditions and values.
