SHOCKING INCIDENT IN MONSEY: USPS Mail Carrier Assaults 4-Year-Old — UPDATE: Stony Point Man Charged, Released Pending Court Appearance

A shocking and deeply disturbing incident unfolded Thursday evening in Monsey, where a USPS mail carrier violently assaulted a young child, an attack that was fully captured on CCTV footage.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM on Garden Terrace off Viola Road. A 4-year-old Jewish boy was innocently standing nearby, watching as the mail carrier delivered letters into a mailbox.

Without warning, the situation escalated dramatically. The mail carrier began screaming at children in the area before turning toward the young boy. In a horrifying moment, the mailman punched the child and physically threw him to the ground, leaving those nearby stunned.

Chaverim of Rockland was contacted Friday morning, and a police report was officially filed with the Ramapo Police Department. Authorities are actively investigating the incident and working to locate the suspect.

This is a developing story.

  1. Heartbreaking to see. Hoping the child is okay and receives the care and support he needs. This kind of violence is completely unacceptable.

  2. Horrific …what kind of animal would do such a thing! This is my block and see kids innocently watch the mailman do his thing just out of curiosity. The monster seemed mad and full of hate. What a world that even in an upscale neighborhood there is danger. B”h this little boy is ok but he will always remember this incident. I hope they lock the monster up forever!

    • Maybe someone who was taunted by a bunch of kids . Without sound the video shows he pushed a kid to the ground. Not acceptable but hardly a life without parole issue though.

  3. Can’t wait to see the שונא ישראל who post on the Monsey Acoop Facebook page have to say.

Not sure why you guys don’t block them.

  4. Chutzpah, I hope they lock him up & THROW away the key… (Maybe the Kid… should be the 1 to THROW it away! ) hope he doesn’t have kids… cuz someone like that, doesn’t deserve any!!

    • I thought the same! Nothing justifies an adult pushing a child like that. But
Kids can be very chutzpadig and disgusting! We only see this tiny clip so means nothing

      • Doesn’t give an ADULT the right to PUNCH a CHILD. I was a mail carrier. If there is an issue delivering mail the carrier can refuse to deliver until the situation is handled. If what you say actually happened the parents would have to deal with the kids or risk not having their mail delivered and have to pick it up at the station

    • Exactly!! I do not condone pushing a child, particularly a toddler but children must be taught tolerance towards those from outside the community. I have witnessed several instances of children taunting adults – including blocking of vehicles by very young children (6-7yo) driving down the street on a Saturday. Unacceptable on several levels. Parents do better!!

      • Adults do better!! These are children, and the postman is an adult. I would say the “adult” in this case should be more tolerant. The USPS worker is in their community and there are better ways of dealing with issues such as this. There are absolutely no excuses for an adult acting in this manner. None!

  5. Well, from what we hear, you people are pros at running people over! You just don’t have enough common sense to be driving. Y’all know this too!

  6. This is a hate crime! This man should lose his job and be confined to a prison cell for a very very long time.. and if he is here from another country, he should be deported after his very long prison sentence!

  7. It definitely doesn’t look like a good situation. I agree that it was a push, not a punch. Would like to know what went on before this happened. I’m surprised that there isn’t this much outrage when a child gets killed by a school bus.

    • It doesn’t matter what’s preceded it; this type of action towards a 4-year old is never justified. But if you can’t see the difference between a deliberate action and a road accident, your judgment is not something to be trusted anyway

  8. I agree nothing justifies pushing a child, but maybe the person posting the video should release the video from 3 minutes before…

  9. This guy is working, and it’s late afternoon, and he has a group of children running after him and throwing stuff on him (rubber bands), etc.. This doesn’t justify what he did, but it doesn’t justify what CHAVERIM did; it’s all about propaganda. Give me a break, please.

  10. This guy is working, and it’s late afternoon, and he has a group of children running after him and throwing stuff on him (rubber bands), etc.. This doesn’t justify what he did, nor does it justify what CHAVERIM did; it’s all about propaganda. Give me a break, please.

  11. I live in a condo where kids constantly run towards their vehicles and sometimes into it and the drivers get annoyed, their job is being bothered and they don’t like it, some drivers even tell the adults around here to get hold of the kids. So when I saw it I was certain that this kid bothered the driver. In no way am I justifying this behavior I would be horrified as well if it happened to my kid, however, why make a big deal of something negative happening to the Jewish community this is in no way a way to spread light about our community, publicize actions that portrays our strength, ex: a Jew giving water to the driver etc. This video makes the Jews look like victims, we should show our strength, we are not victims we are strong and let’s show our strength by not emphasizing on how we knock down non Jews even this driver rightfully deserves it, we don’t spread hate we spread love.

    • I don’t care WHAT ”Community” it is. That man had no right to shove a 4 year old CHILD! NONE! His head just barely missed the concrete he could have been very seriously injured. Jewish or not the child IS a victim and should be treated as one. The BULLY USPS driver is the one who has the hate, not this innocent 4 year old child.

  12. Whatever the outcome of this case it’s still a good object lesson for parents: INSTRUCT YOUR KIDS TO KEEP AWAY FROM STRANGERS, BE THEY USPS, UPS, FEDEX, AMAZON, DHL, et.al, COPS, PRIESTS, RABBIS, MINISTERS, TRASH PICKUP-ERS, UTILITY WORKERS, AND ANYONE ELSE YOU DON’T PERSONALLY KNOW.

  13. Charges should be dropped I don’t believe he did this intentionally he had a bad day like all of us have a lot of times and yes this child made him crazy for over 10 minutes while he was delivering mail doing the entire street, and he busted on him by the last stop release the entire video not just when he is pushing him and @chaverim grow up you a bunch of babies go back controlling traffic and fixing tires and it’s not your job to tell parents to press charges…. Now don’t start replying he deserves it cause pushing a child is wrong I know that he got his message and we can all move on… on a side note this had NOTHING to do with antisemitism at all so this word for sure isn’t coming in here..

    • You must either be an abuser or abused. This was a 4 year old boy. A 4 year old cannot possibly annoy a 39 year old. The boy was not near the man at the beginning of the video.

      • I work in a preschool. A four-year old absolutely can annoy a 39-year old. Big time!
However, part of being a functional human being is knowing how to deal with such “annoyances”. It should go without saying that violence is never an acceptable option!

  14. To “A Monsey Resident”
I am aware that Postal delivery people are also harassed in predominantly Black and Hispanic areas in New York. It should never happen. But the difference is that had this incident taken place in those neighborhoods, the Postman would have been physically attacked by the neighbors and or the community would have yelled racism, especially if the Postman was White..
Don’t touch anyone, especially Children !
At the same time the mail people should never be harassed by anyone ! They must have police called if they are being harassed or mistreated by children or adults. Parents must be held responsible for the actions of their children. Children should be punished by parents.
In areas of trouble, USPS can equip delivery people with body cams to document what takes place, and identify offenders. I will repeat children need to behave, and adults need to keep their hands away from other people’s children.

    • I agree with you 100%. However, take a moment to consider the other side as well. This doesn’t justify or make it okay that the mail carrier pushed a child—that was wrong. But kids can be unpredictable, and we all know some can be more wild than others.

A mail carrier is just trying to do his job. He shouldn’t have to deal with children running after him, yelling, or constantly bothering him. We see it all the time—kids asking for rubber bands, screaming, and not giving them space. When this happens repeatedly, it can become overwhelming.

Imagine being on one street for 30 minutes delivering packages and then sorting the mailout ant post box for 40 + People, all while dealing with constant distractions from kids. That kind of situation can get really frustrating. It seems like, in this case, he lost his temper for a moment.

  15. Aside from the obvious sickening video footage causing most to be sick to their stomach, I am asking why isn’t this perpetrator also being charged with a hate crime? This individual also should be psychologically evaluated and the USPS should be held fully accountable if they hired and maintained an unfit employee that poses a significant risk to the public and likely their own.
