Senator Bill Weber, Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, and Rockland County Executive Ed Day hosted a roundtable discussion Tuesday morning with local business owners impacted by the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) pipeline project.
The meeting, held at Global Collision in Congers, brought together representatives from several local businesses and organizations, including the Lower Hudson Valley Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce, and affected business owners from across the Route 9W corridor.
The roundtable focused on the ongoing economic impact of the CHPE pipeline construction on nearby businesses. Participants discussed property access issues, loss of revenue during construction, and potential long-term effects on the local business community.
Senator Weber and Minority Leader Ortt pledged to advocate for fair treatment and compensation for those affected, while County Executive Ed Day emphasized the importance of balancing large infrastructure projects with the needs of small businesses that form the backbone of Rockland’s economy.
Tuesday’s discussion follows an earlier meeting hosted by Senator Weber on September 4th at Haverstraw Town Hall, where similar concerns were raised.
Businesses represented at the meeting included Global Collision, Titan Fitness, Hole Shot, Deli Central, Yummies, Stony Point Bagel, and Toy Wiz.
