Rockland County’s Accessible Fun Day 2026 marked the largest and most successful event in its three-year history, drawing more than 800 participants to the Rockland Community College Field House. The event emphasized inclusion, recreation, and accessible fun for individuals of all ability levels, bringing together families, schools, day programs, and community organizations from throughout Rockland County.
The event, officially sponsored by the Rockland County Office for People with Disabilities, was developed with significant involvement from Senator Bill Weber’s office. As Ranking Member of the Senate Disabilities Committee, Senator Weber became involved in 2023, early in the planning process, following discussions about creating a countywide event focused on inclusion, accessibility, and activities for individuals of all ability levels.
What began as a promising concept with modest attendance in 2024 has grown into Rockland County’s annual premier inclusive community event. Attendance more than doubled this year, rising from approximately 300 attendees in 2025 to over 800 participants in 2026, with participation from schools, day programs, and numerous community organizations.
Senator Weber’s office operated the event’s largest activity area, an 80-by-80-foot section featuring inclusive games and activities designed to accommodate participants of all ability levels. Activities offered by the Senator included Bill Pong, cornhole, ladder ball, washer toss, giant Jenga, giant Connect Four, putterball, giant Mad Libs, and championship-style photo stations with trophies.
One of the most popular attractions, Bill Pong, was specially adapted with multiple sized containers and ball sizes to ensure accessibility for participants with varying physical abilities. The concept originated in the event’s first year. When Senator Weber’s Office asked Rockland Green to donate 14 round recycling bins so they could paint them to resemble Red Solo Cups, Rockland Green not only generously donated the bins they also painted them for the event. Bill Pong has become a tradition at Rockland County’s YouthFest, and Jawonio’s Brick-A-Palooza.
Planning for this year’s event began in January and involved more than ten planning meetings. Senator Weber’s staff played a significant role in organizing logistics, designing vendor layouts, assisting with setup, and facilitating activities throughout the day. More than 40 vendors participated, with food trucks, sensory rooms, entertainment, and adaptive recreational opportunities available throughout the venue.
Senator Weber’s entire district office staff were eager to participate onsite, assisting with setup, logistics, and activities throughout the highly anticipated event. Office phones continued to be answered remotely to ensure constituent services remained uninterrupted.
“This event shows individuals of all abilities that there is a place for everyone to participate, have fun, and feel included,” Senator Weber said.
“Watching the event grow from an idea into something that impacts hundreds of families and organizations across Rockland County has been incredibly meaningful, not only for me, but for my entire office as well.”
