Senator Bill Weber Launches Second Annual Five Towns Blood Drive Challenge in Rockland

Senator Bill Weber, joined by Rockland County Executive Ed Day, the county’s five Town Supervisors, and Stephanie Dunn Ashley, CEO of the American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter, will officially kick off the second annual Five Towns of Rockland Blood Drive Challenge on Monday, July 28 at 11:30 AM at Orangetown Town Hall.

This weeklong initiative aims to raise awareness about the urgent need for blood donations during the summer months, while fostering friendly competition among Rockland’s five towns—Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown, Ramapo, and Stony Point. Last year’s challenge collected 111 units of blood and welcomed 64 first-time donors. Clarkstown was recognized with top honors in both categories.

This year, towns will once again compete for two trophies:

  • Most Blood Donations Collected

  • Most First-Time Donors

The 2025 challenge will run from July 28 through August 1.

To mark the launch of this life-saving effort, the iconic Tappan Zee Bridge will be lit red on Monday evening.
