Senator Bill Weber Introduces Legislation to Rename Route 202 as Hector L. Soto Memorial Highway

In a recent announcement held in Haverstraw, State Senator Bill Weber revealed plans to introduce new legislation to rename a portion of Route 202 as the Hector L. Soto Memorial Highway. This proposed section, running between Rosman Road and Route 45, is set to honor the legacy of former Councilman Hector L. Soto.

Joined by Soto’s family, members of American Legion Post 46, Haverstraw Supervisor Howard Phillips, the Haverstraw Police Department, and other local officials, Senator Weber emphasized Soto’s contributions to the community and nation. Soto, who passed away in April 2023, served in the United States Air Force and the Haverstraw Police Department, dedicating his life to public service.

Weber stated that he hopes for the renaming legislation to be approved in the upcoming legislative session, commemorating Soto’s legacy as a devoted public servant in Rockland County.
