New York State Senator Bill Weber continues to show that with him, it’s never business as usual. On Wednesday, September 25, he served as the featured guest speaker at a Rockland networking business group meeting, delivering inspiring insights from his extensive career in both business and public service.
The business group, which includes top experts from various fields, had the opportunity to hear the Senator share first-hand experiences from his two decades as a CPA and CFO of a golf and real estate company. His background in the private sector resonated with the attendees, offering a relatable perspective on navigating the challenges faced by businesses today.
The group meets monthly, rotating at different members’ homes, with each meeting focused on a unique theme. A key topic of this month’s discussion was the impact of Albany’s policies on businesses in New York, with one attendee comparing New York’s situation to a “man-made disaster,” in contrast to the natural disasters faced by other states.
“This group stands for integrity, and we bring value to each other—especially Senator Weber,” said Chaim Berkovic, founder of Skyscraper Insurance. He praised the Senator for his efforts in assisting local businesses by cutting through red tape and addressing labor law challenges. “He’s raising the level of care and bringing accountability to government.”
Senator Weber highlighted the struggles and challenges businesses, particularly small businesses, face daily in New York State. “As someone who comes from the private sector, I understand these challenges firsthand,” the Senator said. “I’m proud to bring that real-world experience to Albany—something that’s sorely needed.”
David Wanounou, business coach at The Trepper Plan, echoed these sentiments. “It’s reassuring to know we have someone in office who truly understands business, who is approachable, and who advocates for our interests. Bill’s business background is incredibly valuable in government, and his willingness to assist businesses in navigating regulatory challenges is something we all appreciate.”
Attendees, including mortgage broker Yael Ishakis and Miriam Abraham of Prism Financial Planning, expressed their admiration for the Senator’s efforts. Ishakis noted how Senator Weber “shows up big for Rockland County,” while Abraham remarked, “It was eye-opening to learn what the Senator’s office does for the community.
