New York State Senator Bill Weber has formally presented a New York State Senate Proclamation to Hospital Corpsman First Class (FMF/SW/AW/IW/PJ) Andrew V. Velikic in recognition of his exceptional and distinguished service to the United States of America.
A graduate of Clarkstown High School South, HM1 Velikic has served with extraordinary valor and dedication since enlisting in the Navy in 2011. His assignments have taken him from Afghanistan—where he provided lifesaving care under combat conditions—to leadership roles aboard the USS Boxer during a successful Western Pacific deployment as part of the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
HM1 Velikic was selected as the 2024 Pacific Fleet Sea Sailor of the Year and the 2024 Fleet Marine Force (Senior) Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year.
“Hospital Corpsman First Class Velikic has served our country with unmatched professionalism and bravery,” said Senator Weber.” It was my distinct honor to recognize his service with a New York State Senate proclamation.”
Senator Weber, who represents the 38th District, has long been a champion of veterans, military families, and public service members. He hosts quarterly Veterans Advisory Council meetings and hosted his third annual Veterans Appreciation Reception last month.
The proclamation ceremony took place at Senator Weber’s district office in Nanuet with the participation of Andrew’s family.
