On Wednesday, Senator Bill Weber proudly presented Polina Buryakov-Alexiou, founder and CEO of the Organizing Ukraine Relief (O.U.R.) Foundation, with a New York State Senate Commendation Award. This prestigious honor recognizes her outstanding dedication to improving the lives of Ukrainian war survivors through her charitable organization.
The O.U.R. Foundation, headquartered in Pomona, NY, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity focused on fostering hope, enhancing mobility, and rejuvenating the lives of those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. One of the organization’s key initiatives is bringing Ukrainian soldiers who have lost limbs in the war to Rockland County. These veterans receive world-class physical therapy and rehabilitation services, which are often unavailable in their home country. O.U.R. provides housing, medical care, and support to help these survivors adapt to life with prosthetics and regain their independence.
Polina Buryakov-Alexiou’s tireless efforts have made a profound difference in the lives of many Ukrainian soldiers and civilians, and her work has garnered widespread recognition. The commendation from Senator Weber highlights the significance of O.U.R.’s mission and the critical role it plays in aiding Ukraine’s war survivors.
