On Wednesday, January 8, Senator Bill Weber and Assemblyman Aron Wieder officially began their terms in office during swearing-in ceremonies at the State Capitol. Senator Weber, a Republican representing the 38th Senate District, was sworn in by Chief Judge Rowan D. Wilson. Assemblyman Wieder, a Democrat representing the 98th Assembly District, also took his oath of office in the Assembly Chamber.
The day showcased a spirit of bipartisanship, as Assemblyman Wieder visited the Senate Chamber to congratulate Senator Weber. Senator Weber reciprocated by visiting the Assembly Chamber to extend congratulations to Assemblyman Wieder, as well as the other Rockland County Assembly members: Karl Brabenec, Patrick Carroll, Chris Eachus, and Aron Wieder himself.
Senator Weber was joined by a delegation that included Chestnut Ridge Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, Josh Levitin, and his entire staff. Assemblyman Wieder was similarly accompanied by members of his staff and supporters.
During the day, Senator Weber and Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose also took time to congratulate Democratic Senator Pete Harckham, who represents Stony Point. The mutual acknowledgments and warm exchanges between the Democratic and Republican officials underscored a commitment to cooperation for the benefit of Rockland County residents.
As the legislative session begins, the collaborative gestures displayed during the swearing-in ceremonies offer hope for bipartisan efforts to address the needs of the Rockland community.
