SCAM ALERT: Imposters Posing as Water Company Employees Target North Rockland Homes

Haverstraw and Stony Point Police Departments are warning residents about a scam involving individuals posing as water company employees. Several homeowners in the North Rockland area have reported that people claiming to be from “the water company” have approached their homes, requesting to come inside to collect a water sample. Authorities have confirmed that these individuals are not affiliated with Veolia or any legitimate utility company.

Police are urging the public to stay alert and avoid letting anyone into their home unless their identity can be verified. Scammers often impersonate utility workers in an attempt to steal money, gather personal information, or gain access to private property. Residents are advised to ask for proper identification, avoid opening the door to unexpected visitors, and contact Veolia Customer Service directly to confirm any scheduled employee visits. Any suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the Haverstraw or Stony Point Police Departments.

Anyone who believes they’ve been targeted by this scam should dial 911 if the situation is urgent.
