Saturday Marked 52 Years Since Orangetown Police Officers Kennedy and Reedy Were Killed in the Line of Duty

Saturday, August 2nd, marked 52 years since the tragic line-of-duty deaths of Orangetown Police Officers Thomas Kennedy and Michael Reedy, who were struck and killed by an intoxicated driver while directing traffic at an accident scene.

The incident occurred on August 2, 1973, on Route 303 in Blauvelt, as the officers worked to protect others at a crash site. Their sudden and senseless deaths sent shockwaves through the quiet Rockland County community.

We continue to honor the memory and sacrifice of Patrolmen Thomas Kennedy and Michael Reedy. Their dedication and service will never be forgotten.
